About Us
From a Melbourne garage to Curve Fitness
It started the way most good things do: out of necessity.
When the world changed in 2020, Australians had to find new ways to stay active, strong and mentally well from home. Demand for home gym equipment changed almost overnight, but finding reliable, good-quality equipment at a fair price was not easy. Stock was limited, delivery was expensive, and many customers had no simple way to compare quality before buying.
So two Melbourne women, Ajpa Wali and Dhara Mehta, decided to build something better.
Curve Fitness was created around a simple belief: strength equipment should be high quality, practical and accessible for real Australian homes, garages, studios and training spaces.
For them, that mission was also deeply personal. Their own journey with mental health, physical challenges and strength training shaped the way they see fitness, not as something only for athletes, but as something that can help everyday people feel stronger, more capable and more confident in their own bodies.
Why Strength Became Personal
For Ajpa and Dhara, Curve Fitness is not only about selling gym equipment. It is also connected to their own journey with mental health, physical challenges, motherhood, identity and learning how strength training can change the way a person feels in their own body.
Like many women, they did not grow up seeing strength training as something that was naturally encouraged, explained or made accessible. Fitness for women was often spoken about in terms of weight loss, appearance or short-term motivation, rather than confidence, independence, resilience and long-term wellbeing.
Coming from different backgrounds and lived experiences, Ajpa and Dhara understand that many women are raised to put everyone else first, often leaving their own health, strength and confidence at the bottom of the list. Their hope is to help change that conversation for any woman who has ever felt unsure, intimidated or disconnected from strength training.
Their own journey has taught them that strength is not just about lifting heavier weights. It is about rebuilding trust in yourself, showing up slowly, learning what your body can do, and becoming stronger in ways that are not always visible.
That is why Ajpa and Dhara are passionate about speaking openly and sharing practical, lived-experience guidance to women who feel unsure where to begin. Their aim is not to give medical advice or promise a quick transformation. It is to help more women feel less intimidated by strength training and more confident taking the first step.

What Makes Curve Different
As women in an industry still heavily dominated by men, Ajpa and Dhara saw a clear gap. Buying gym equipment often meant choosing between low-cost products that did not feel built to last, or premium equipment that was priced out of reach for many everyday Australians.
Curve Fitness was built to change that.
Whether you are a first-time lifter setting up a spare bedroom, a family building a garage gym, a serious athlete upgrading your training space, or a PT kitting out a studio, you deserve equipment that feels strong, reliable and fit for purpose.
We focus on durable, carefully selected strength equipment backed by practical support and clear warranty information. Selected products include extended or lifetime replacement warranty support, as set out in our Warranty Policy.
What We Stand For
Every product in the Curve range is chosen with real use in mind. We look for equipment that balances durability, function, value and everyday practicality. We work with manufacturers whose products meet the specifications, durability expectations and quality checks we require before adding them to the Curve range.
Ajpa and Dhara also use this equipment themselves. If they would not train on it, they would not sell it.
Curve Fitness is not a faceless online operation. When you call us on 1300 252 643, you speak to someone who actually knows and uses the products. When you need help setting up your space, you get honest advice and practical guidance.
At Curve, we focus on:
- commercial-grade and home gym equipment selected for durability and value
- practical options for real homes, garages, studios and training spaces
- clear product guidance before you buy
- helpful support from people who know the range
- long-term trust, not quick sales
Proudly Australian. Proudly women-owned.
Founded by Ajpa Wali and Dhara Mehta, Curve Fitness is a proudly Australian, women-owned and women-led gym equipment supplier.
That is not just a label. It shapes how we run the business every day. It means caring about the customer experience, making equipment easier to understand, and building a brand Australians can trust for years to come.
We are not here for quick sales. We are here to raise the bar and make strength training more practical, more accessible and easier to build into real life.
Supporting Udaan
Curve Fitness also proudly sponsors Udaan, a volunteer-led community initiative created to give artists and performers a platform to be seen, celebrated and supported.
For Ajpa and Dhara, this community work connects deeply with the values behind Curve Fitness: confidence, opportunity, self-expression and helping people become stronger in more ways than one.
